Looe
is one of South Cornwall's main tourist destinations. It
sits around a small harbour and along the steep-sided valley
of the River Looe which flows between East and West Looe to the
sea beside a lovely sandy beach. It boasts a very busy
shopping centre with many quaint little shops in the pretty narrow
streets just off the quay and beach. Off shore to the west,
opposite the stonier Hannafore beach, lies the picturesque St
George's Island, commonly known as Looe Island.
Nearby
is the picture-postcard village of Polperro with its quiet harbour
and centuries old fishermen's cottages.
An
easy drive will take you to a large number of tourist attractions,
including the world-famous Eden Project (pictured
